WHEW....PHEW...WHEW

I am fresh from my annual appraisal meeting. By the way the word can do away without the word praise in it. Mine certainly wasn’t so. It was what I expected. In this downturn and economically tough times, I knew numbers was what they would be looking at and mine wasn’t very rosy (not even a slightly baby pink). The efforts that I had put in, the long hours , the late night calls, the overnight stays all went to naught in terms of getting recognized.

Not anyone’s fault though, considering the circumstances, I can just imagine the magnification of pressure that my boss would have been getting from his superior and perfectly understand the transference of the same to me. So, infact I should be glad that it has been only this much and not more painful.

But the expectations (met and unmet) have carried forward to the new year with a vengeance. I have to meet them, at the least feign that there is a possibility that they will be met. So for that I have come across an action plan. Here it goes.

1) tyre kickers and window shoppers..here is a word of friendly advice…get the hell away from my inbox. I don’t have time to waste my precious(management thinks otherewise) time and energy on you. if you want to just browse around without any concrete plan, please contact my company’s competitors.
2) Better working hours. I used to be a bit lax in my entry time and it has been brought to my notice. I have to make sure that iam in office at an acceptable and agreeable time. Similarly I wont be doing any more late night stints at the office which was almost daily. Since its timeliness that the management wants that’s what they will get. In and out at the exact time and not a minute more.
3) Process adherence. This is something I need to work on very fervently. I always used to go beyond the laid protocols and follow things with a passion. That’s a NO-NO from now. in fact I am going to be like the guy in this cartoon.



4) The fourth thing I need to do….hmmm I don’t know ..that is all I suppose…oh yeah I need to not spend too much time doing other work at office..ahem ahem…bye for now.
