The national anthem would continue after the commercial break

Probably one of the best piece of national pride is this cartoon that won the national prize for National pride….this best portrays what we are good at….commercialization….selling everything down the river….

The English were called as a nation of shopkeepers…compared to them I think we best qualify ourselves as a retail chain…..or the local kirana shop….we change faster than the back of a scared chameleon according to the situation..

About five years back a book came out “India For Sale” which dealt with this topic in depth. I rather wish that a sequel to the same comes out any time soon. We as a nation collectively and Indians, on an individual scale have sold off what in essence is our country.

Starting from something so tiny as basmati rice to our nuclear stockpiling( at the time of this blog no conclusive decision has been taken on the N-deal) , we have bowed down to the western supremacy without so much as a whimper...i am not calling for a rising to arms against them but atleast to be in a position wherein people are aware of what the situation is like and draw their own judgment and inferences instead of the "follow the herd" policy.

The problem with us and them is this.....the supremos think that they know whats best for our country ....and our leaders toe their line ....In rare cases that we have the spunk and the spine to oppose them, internal politics which is mainly governed by petty groups which have at their hand a sizable chunk of the vote bank go about threatening the central government...its downright pathetic ....actually its ironic...

Think of it...a big and developed country forces our decision...they think and choose what is best for us....we are a small country trying to act big....but here taking our country internally , the central powers are governed by small, itty-bitty political parties ... India as a country is a mix of extremities...to be threatened by big superpowers and small no-powers at the same time requires special talent...

I know that iam also doin what the ordinary indian does..just open my mouth and break steam but end up doing nothing...precisely because i dont know what to do...all that i can do is be the typical indian and complain but dont get to do anything progressive....what do i say...MERA BHARAT MAHAN
