A single word

A single word was all it took
My complacency completely shook
Didn’t realize till then that I made a mistake
Till she turned and said my love was fake

Look back at the times we spent
Moments of heaven that that the gods had lent
Hours together with nothing to say
Alone, even when among the fray

Time pulled us apart further and further
Even apologies to give, we didn’t bother
To each their own pressure
Forgetting the moments we used to treasure

Although the fault was by both of us
I landed up holding the mess
It was as though I am the sole reason
For these unforgivable acts of treason

I try to apologize and make good
Saying all the things I could
But nothing would change her mind
Her attitude to me, cold and unkind

I have nothing more to say
Have nothing more to do
My heart and mind froze
My love is like a paper rose

Without true color
Without true feel
Without essence
But pricks just as much as a true one
Paper roses, my love is just a paper rose
