Reverse it !!!

This post was promised to a friend and due for a very long time( ahem…I hope the delay is negated by mentioning this).

Everyone is aware of the terms male chauvinism and female chauvinism and even jingoism which is directly derived from this. Chauvin, the French subordinate of Napoleon who is the etymological reason for this word must be turning in his grave( and it was a pauper’s grave) if he knew just how his name was being used.

Recently I came across a new kind of chauvinism that struck me. I cant say it is a new thing, but the recent incident made me think of the so many other incidents that are collateral for such a type. REVERSE CHAUVINISM.

This can be also classified as tagging, generalizing etcetera. People in this society have certain expectations and restrictions for the people of the opposite gender that just doesn’t make sense. In today’s modern world, if a girl goes to work late hours and wears modern clothes(clothes that were previously the mainstay of the man’s wardrobe) it is considered being liberal. Anybody who makes any comment on the same is termed as being a chauvinist. ( and in my particular case, it means being called a MCP, a Male Chauvinist Pig, and most of the times appended with an F* word.)

The same set of people who are seen to be ultra-modern and hep have within them a certain expectation as to what a man should be. If a man wears pink, they verbally say “wow he is being a cool metrosexual…” but in hearts of hearts loathe his choice. If a man enjoys getting a makeover, then there is always a doubt about his orientation.( come on gals, you crib if his nails are dirty but if he gets his nails done, then he aint man enough? )

Leave all that. If a man cries, he is looked upon as a weak, sentimental, emotional breakdown. If a woman cries then she is just being what she is. Where is the logic or rather where is the justice in this. If god didn’t want men to cry, then why the hell did he place tear glands. The popular adage says Boys don’t cry. I can only comment upon the magnanimity of men for not making “ Woman are sensitive” popular.


There have been a lot of berating about the other sex( I meant the other gender…not some obscure new way of doing the dirty). I personally think that there is never going to be an end to this nor will there be a standard as to this is what the other sex(once again I intended gender) can and should do. Sometimes the truest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in this universe is the fact that they have never tried to contact us. Life on earth is already crazy enough.

Bickering about what a guy should do and what a girl should do is too much of a waste of time. Do unto others as you would like to be done unto you….oh damn that was too much of a double entendre..

As I said before and as I will say it now and as I will say it again, I Never repeat myself !!!
