Everyone has seen it....everyone has felt it... everyone has flogged it to death...yet i feel compelled to write on it...here is my take on VTV--Vinnai thaandi varuvaaya
first things first...if you havent loved, dont watch the movie....if you have loved, then also dont watch the movie... either way it is going to bring some very unsettling emotions swell up in you.
there is a famous phrase" better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all". More intelligent people have said, there is no loss in love, there is nothing called loss in love. I am in quasi agreement with both statements. For i have loved. In fact i have been accused often of being a chronic lover.( my friends stand testimony to that fact, they are appalled by the number of times i have fallen in love. If all those falls were true, i should indeed be a very broken man, literally)
i am not going to talk about the plot, the way the characters have been etched, the wonderful acting or rather "being in the groove" by the leads, Simbu and trisha. Lot of people have done a much better post mortem and i am either in agreement or disagreement with them(who among you cares what i think about that???) i am simply astounded by Goutham's candid way of progressing with the story. Any body who has been in love would have atleast one scene in the movie where he or she is startled and thinks goutham was a voyeur who followed him or her with a video cam. so natural and believable are the incidents in the movie.
The loss of love..sorry there is no loss of love...there is love existing even in the very last scene between the protagonists....rather the mature way that they accept the reality that some things are not meant to be and move on...that was a master stroke.. the angst, the pain, the suffering all clearly depicted...yet the love still lingers on...
The statement by the hero where he says its killing him to sit on the opposite side, away from her, not beside her, not being able to "shower" his love...come on, which one of us hasnt felt the same atleast once in our lives...
i could identify with the movie and even go about saying that Goutham must pay me some tribute.. but at the end of the day, it is an amazing masterpiece that anyone who has been in love will feel in sync with..
As i said in the start, if you had been in love, dont watch it, it is going to make you reach for your mobile and search for the girl/guy who went away...tears tears tears
if you had never been in love, dont watch it, its going to make you pine for such a love...to yearn for such a feel...to feel inadequate that you have never experienced love like this ...tears tears tears
if you are in love, then definitely dont watch it, it is going to put ideas into your head and your lover's, just to test the strength of your love...to see if it is going to turn out that way...tears tears tears
a beaut if i ever saw one ...good tamil film in a long long time...the reason why i am writing this now, after more than a month since the movie released is well known to my friends, my close friends that is...yeah reliving the movie once again...fresh pains pang my heart
